EVA foam agent, or EVA foaming agent, is a chemical additive primarily used in the process of expanding EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate copolymer) materials to produce porous EVA foam. One commonly used EVA foaming agent is Azodicarbonamide (ADC), which is a pale yellow powder characterized by several properties:

  • Generates copious gas: It produces a substantial amount of gas, which is fundamental to creating the foam structure.
  • Stable gas release: It releases gas in a consistent manner, facilitating uniform foam formation during production.
  • Rapid decomposition: At appropriate temperatures and conditions, it quickly breaks down, allowing for better control over the foaming process.
  • Environmentally friendly and safe: ADC is non-toxic, odorless, color-stable, and doesn't contaminate, making its use environmentally friendly and safe.

During the heating and processing of EVA materials, the foaming agent decomposes, releasing gases, typically nitrogen or carbon dioxide, into the molten EVA. These gases form bubbles within the material. As the material cools and solidifies, these bubbles are locked in place, resulting in lightweight, porous EVA foam. This process is pivotal for manufacturing products with excellent cushioning, insulation, and sound absorption properties, widely used in applications such as shoe materials, packaging, toys, sporting goods, and automotive interiors.
